#01: “Stop thinking talent has anything to do with success.”

What we really need is the discipline to push beyond great ideas. We need hard work, curiosity, and that tiny bit of insecurity that keeps us trying, improving, and looking for more.

#02: stop trying so hard to come up with great ideas.

It’s better to come up with lots of ideas, with absolutely no filter, than to keep searching for the best one. Geniuses are only geniuses because they’re persistent. They kept trying, learned along the way, and eventually reached the result they wanted,expected or unexpected.

So start using your ideas without filtering them. The idea-generation stage needs to be loose, free, and completely unfiltered. Filtering comes later.

#03: “Stop being so responsible.”

Give yourself permission. We work in a world where creativity is a huge advantage, so allow yourself to step outside the boundaries a little. It’s okay. There are already plenty of people around us making sure our work stays safe. We’re allowed to make it a little more dangerous.

#04: find a mentor.

It could be a friend, someone you admire, or someone whose work you love. They don’t necessarily need to be from the same industry, but find someone you can talk to, interact with, show your work to, and discuss your career and goals with. Ideally, this person should be more experienced than you, because their experience will help guide you through a big part of your journey.

One more tip: “Make it fun.”

As he says in the course: “Whoever enjoys it the most, wins.”

Being part of the creative world is so much fun, and learning to enjoy the process is a game changer. The process teaches us so much, so we need to pay attention to it, and put a little love into it too.

We’re often so anxious to reach the final result that we forget the process can sometimes teach us much more than the outcome itself. It can add so much more to who we are.

So, anyway… I really recommend this course because it goes much deeper into these tips, along with many others. It flipped a switch in my brain and encouraged me to share more of what I love, put myself out there, and be more present.

Because, at the end of the day:
